Releasing Soon: Atom – A Love Story

This week on Releasing Soon, we have a chat with one of the cast members of “At0m – A Love Story”. The movie, that juxtaposes science with mainstream entertainment, is a novel concept – one that the Indian film industry has been lacking for long. Today we have with Naga T Vetty, who is part of the cast and has agreed to shed some light on what the movie is all about.

Me: Hi Naga, and thank you for joining us today!

Naga: Hello, thank you for having me over.

Me: So, tell us a bit about the movie.

Naga: This movie was the brain child of scientist Dr Vijay Gyanchand or as we fondly call him Dr. Vigyan.

Me: Sounds like a villain out of Spiderman.

Naga: (smiling) Yes. Even more so considering he has crazy white hair.Dr Vigyan has made his life mission to help educate people across India and promote interest in science. Considering the impact mainstream cinema has on the Indian population, Dr Vigyan and his trust decided to make a film.

Me: Why the atom?

Naga: Everything in this world is made of atoms, and plans are underway to make sequels. But I am not at liberty to discuss that.

Me: Ah! So tell us more about the movie. Why is it a love story?

Naga: The atom is functions on account of one basic rule – opposites attract. The way the atom functions has been the focus of the movie and the script writer thought the best way to bring it out is through a love story.

Me: So the electron and proton are attracted to each other, but the neutron does not want them to be together?

Naga: (a bit comfortably) Maybe. I don’t want to give away the story.

Me: Fair enough. Why don’t you tell us about the cast?

Naga: Yes. We have a good cast for this movie. There are three characters in this movie. The Neutron is a deep and dense character – gray because of how neutral the character is. The audience will not know till the end whether the Neutron is a good guy or a bad guy. The Proton is an upbeat and positive girl who is not sure whether to follow her heart. She cannot leave the nucleus, no matter how attracted she is to the elusive Electron. I play the Electron – and yes, the character has been created with a negative mould.

Me: Naga T Vetty and negativity? Co-incidence?

Naga: I hope so!

Me: Well, that’s about the time we have for today. Thank you for coming over Naga. And, good luck with your movie!

Naga: Thank you!

Sounds like every other actor doesn’t it?
